Back in 2002, I served eight years in the U.S. Army as an enlisted soldier. During which time, I completed two tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom. Over the next several years, I worked for defense contractors in both Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and, ultimately, Operation Resolute Support.

During the majority of my service, no one explained how to build wealth while in the military and I want to prevent that from happening to future service members. Even more so, no one explained how military service members are uniquely positioned to make enormous strides in accumulating wealth at such a young age. My goal is to inform as many new, current, and separated service members about how they can build wealth by first changing the mindset about gaining wealth and then showing everyone how to use veterans’ services to pave the way to financial freedom. This will be a one-stop-shop for all things related to wealth building both in and after the military.

I am not a certified financial planner, nor am I a millionaire. I have started my wealth-building journey with rental properties, my own business, and investments. None have made me rich yet, and I’m still working on my first million. I will share the experiences that I encountered and chronicle my progress as I continue my financial journey. I want to help as many people as I can avoid the mistakes that I made and help others build generational wealth and achieve financial freedom.
